Level 3 Mathematics
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Davis.
Level 3 Mathematics
NCEA Level 3 Mathematics for University Entrance is assessed using internal achievement standards only. Students are given the opportunity to sit credits through internal assessments across a variety of topics.
The foundations of each standard are covered to enable all students to gain credits at an achieved level. Those more capable will also be taken to Merit or Excellence level where appropriate.
This course is designed for students who do not wish to specialise in Calculus or Statistics at Level 3, but still require Mathematics for University Entrance purposes.
Common Q&A
Q: Can I do engineering if I am in 13MATH?
A: In short, no. You are required to pass Level 3 Calculus (and normally Level 3 Physics too) in order to gain entry into Engineering courses. There are a couple of alternative routes in if Calculus is not your strong point, I would suggest meeting with the Careers team if you are in this position as they are best equipped to provide you all the information for this possibility.
Q: Are there any external exams?
A: No. There are 6 internal assessments offering a total of 20 credits towards Level 3 overall.
