Year 10 French
The Year 10 French course has been designed to provide students with reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in French at a basic level while learning and appreciating French culture. Students will be developing lateral thinking and analytic abilities to provide a solid foundation for NCEA Level 1 French. Cultural awareness and understanding is also developed through a variety of different activities such as a French movie trip.
After a few lessons of revision of the Y9 programme, you will study the following topics:
- The media (films/ TV shows/ Music)
- Master Chef: Shopping and food
- A wonderful holiday in Paris
- Cultural Aspects
- Outing to the French movie festival
Assessment
French is assessed through a range of project based assessments as well as formal assessments throughout the year. These marks contribute to the Mid-Year Examinations and End of Year Examinations.
Entry Criteria
This course is open entry for all students.
Native or background speakers of French are not permitted to enter this course.
Equipment/Stationery and Course Costs
As this course makes extensive use of digital learning material. It is expected that you will have a laptop or other suitable learning device available for each class when required. $52 course fee for cultural activities and Education Perfect.
