Pāngarau Tau 10
Mathematics and Statistics is delivered at Level 5 of the curriculum and encourages students to develop a logical way of approaching problems based on contextual situations. The topics covered give a broad foundation required to progress further in Mathematics.
Using a mix of both traditional, and electronic devices, students will focus on key Mathematical and Statistical skills in areas such as Number work, Geometry, Measurement, Data Handling, Algebra and Problem Solving. Students will be required to work both individually as well as collaboratively depending upon the task at hand.
Assessment
Mathematics is assessed by means of common tests throughout the year, sat in class, as well as more formal examinations sat during the mid-year and end-of-year examination period.
All students will sit the new NCEA co-requisite Numeracy standard.
