Year 11 Design & Visual Communication

     

This is a brand new course as part of the new Elevate program at Westlake Boys beginning in 2024. It will be made up of 4 major projects focussed on:

Ideation and Photoshop, Product Designing and brief creation, Presentation and Heritage, Freehand Drawing, and Rendering Techniques.  This course leads on to Year 12 DVC which will focus on architecture, product design, and presentation. 

Students will require a DVC Kit which will be available for purchase at our school uniform shop premade with all the equipment needed to complete the course. 

Students should have a laptop (not a Chrome book) and be bringing this to class - the Adobe creative cloud is available for purchase so that students can use Photoshop which is necessary for the course. It is 10$ for the year, please click the link below to buy:

Entry Criteria

Successful completion of Yr 10 DVC is recommended but when this is not possible, consultation with HOD is expected prior to entry. Students must have basic drawing skills and enjoy drawing. 

Equipment/Stationery and Course Costs

As this course makes extensive use of digital learning material. It is expected that you will have a laptop or other suitable learning device available for each class when required.

Career pathways Design & Visual Communication lead to are: architecture, design, graphic design, fine arts, illustration, animation, gaming, advertising, UX design, Industrial Design.

Assessment Information

Students will be required to submit portfolio work relating to the various projects
