Year 9 Chinese
Learning a new language provides a means of communicating with people from another culture and exploring one’s own personal world. Year 9 Chinese aims to develop students’ understanding and ability to use familiar expressions and everyday vocabulary in order to interact in a simple way in supported situations.

Assessment
Chinese is assessed through a range of project based assessments as well as formal assessments throughout the year. These marks contribute to the Mid-Year Examinations and End of Year Examinations.
Mid-year and End of Year exams include:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Cultural knowledge & participation
Entry Criteria
All students in Year 9 take a language. 9CHI is designed for non-native speakers of Chinese only.
Students are able to study more than one language. Native and background speakers of Chinese are not permitted to select this course.
Equipment/Stationery and Course Costs
As this course makes extensive use of digital learning material. It is expected that you will have a laptop or other suitable learning device available for each class when required. $52 course fee for cultural activities and Education Perfect.
