Year 9 Drama & Theatre Arts
The course is either a single term or a semester (two terms). Students will study the drama techniques: voice, body, movement and use of space. Also we explore theatresports, status play, mask work, script-work, improvisation and team-work and an introduction to stage design, lighting and sound. Students on the semester course will undertake a production unit, using either Dr. Seuss's "The Lorax" or Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" as the text.
This is a completely practical course.
Assessment
Regular in-class assessment. These take the form of on-going, in-class performance formative assessment. There are no formal assessments or examinations.
The results for this course will be part of either the Mid-Year or End-of-Year report (depending if you complete the course in the first or second half of the year).
The results will not count towards overall class rank.

Entry Criteria
There is no entry criteria as it is a mandatory course at Year 9.
Equipment/Stationery and Course Costs
As this course makes extensive use of digital learning material. It is expected that you will have a laptop or other suitable learning device available for each class when required.
