Year 9 Mathematics - Extension
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr C. Okey.
Year 9 Mathematics Extension
Year 9 Mathematics Extension is delivered at level 6 of the curriculum and encourages students to develop a logical way of approaching problems based on contextual situations. The topics covered give a broad, foundation understanding required to progress further in Mathematics and Statistics. The course emphasises algebra, which is included in two algebra topics and integrated into six non-algebra topics. Report grades are based on teacher observation in class, homework, tests, projects and examinations.
Assessment
Mathematics is assessed through term marks made up of in-class tests on content and method, using both calculator and non-calculator approaches.
These marks contribute to the Mid-Year Examinations and End-of-Year Examinations.
