Level 3 Science

Students who take this course will continue to develop an understanding of the world around them. This course builds upon the 12SCI course. Students from other Science courses at Level 2 will be able to continue their learning in that field, and broaden their understanding of Science.

Topics include: 

  • The science of the thermoregulatory system in humans
  • Investigating what exoplanets are and how humans found them
  • Chemistry of batteries and electroplating
  • Modern Physics, and the pros and cons of the use of Nuclear energy in New Zealand
  • Human Evolution 



Entry Criteria

Entry into Level 3 Science requires successful completion of any Level 2 Science course (A minimum of 14 credits at Achieved level or higher). It is recommended that students have Achieved in Internal assessments at Level 2 in order to have the best preparation for this course.

Students must also meet the requirements to study a Level 3 NCEA Award. 

Restrictions apply:
Level 3 Science can not be studied while enrolled in any other Science course.

This course is eligible for NCEA Course Endorsement.

This course is approved for University Entrance.
