Year 9 Core Music

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr W. Robinson.

Year 9 Core Music

Core Music is an introduction to the basics of music, including: aural (listening) skills, rhythm, composition, performing, computer and written notation, and music in the world we live in.

In addition to learning some basic theory, rhythm and musical knowledge, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Learn the basics of playing the guitar - learn to lead (or just accompany) a singalong.
  • Operate a music notation programme like Sibelius of MuseScore. You'll get to see how easily musical notation can be turned into music which sounds familiar.
  • Use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to create your own contemporary music tracks. You'll learn to structure your music so that it has maximum impact.
