Entry CriteriaTo gain entry into Level 2 Art Design the successful completion of a Level 1 course in Art is beneficial.
It is recommended that you have prior experience with digital technologies and are computer proficient, as work produced in this course is done through using Adobe Photoshop.
Students must also meet the requirements to study a Level 2 NCEA Award.
Level 2 Art Design
Students learn how to think creatively and solve design issues as they go through various design briefs. Students will use a variety of drawing techniques to clearly develop and communicate their ideas. Students choose the topic and nature of their designs, then produce a series of briefs relevant to their topic, eg, corporate identity, logo, cd covers, posters, comic strip, gaming design etc.
Ideal for students wanting a career in product design, architecture, graphic design, animation, concept art, landscape design, spatial design, etc.

Equipment/Stationery and Course CostsThis course makes significant use of digital learning material at various times during the year. It is advantageous for a student to have a laptop during these times. Some learning activities, including assessments, will not be able to be completed without a laptop.
Course selection does not guarantee a course will be available or that you have approval to take a course. Final course confirmation is in January and depends on your final results and in rare cases, staff availability.
