Tā Himi Henare (Ngāti Hine)

‘Kia tata ngā pae tawhiti ~ Draw in those distant horizons’

It is those dreams, aspirations of our young Māori men we want to give strength to, to realise their dreams, by utilising te reo Māori, cultural practices, tikanga Māori, the gifts of our tūpuna and the skills of our kaiako, is the essence of all learning in Te Puna o Ngā Mātauranga Māori

Welcome to the Faculty of the Māori Language and Māori Performing Arts (Te Ao Haka) at Westlake Boys High School.

Te Puna is the centre of the Te Ao Māori at Westlake Boys and is also the home of our Māori students.

Te Reo Māori, Te Ao Haka, Te Kauri and Te Whānau Rūmaki are the elements that make up Te Puna.

Te Puna aims to provide a learning environment where students will realise their aspirations and the dreams of their tūpuna.  Students will be encouraged to have pride in their language and their culture.
